The perfect Mother’s Day out
Does your mum enjoy a traditional afternoon tea? Or perhaps she’s a big fan of the great outdoors? Whatever she’s into, she’ll love spending Mother’s Day with you.
We’ve found a few ideas for the perfect mother-daughter days out – all you need to do is arrange the travel to get you both there.
Start with a spa
Kick-start your Mother’s Day out with a bit of pampering at a top spa. You can’t beat the super-luxurious ESPA Life at Corinthia – complete with ‘sleep pods’ if mum fancies a nap – or The Berkeley Spa with views from the open-top swimming pool over Hyde Park with views from the open-top swimming pool over Hyde Park.

Hit the shops
Avoid the High Street and treat mum to a unique gift. In London, Covent Garden Market is packed with stalls selling unusual items from jewellery to hand-made soaps.
In Edinburgh, Grassmarket and Victoria Street – said to be the inspiration for Harry Potter’s Diagon Alley – are lined with quirky boutiques, and Glasgow is a vintage shopper’s to paradise.
Time for tea
It wouldn’t be Mother’s Day without some afternoon tea. Indulge in the classic scones and finger sandwiches at The Dorchester, or combine a London bus tour with tea and cake on a vintage Routemaster.
There’s only one place to go in Edinburgh – Palm Court at The Balmoral. Tuck in to tiny sandwiches under exotic palm trees. Glasgow has the impressive Willow Tea Rooms to, designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh, for tea with a slice of history.
Make Mother’s ruin
Mum can create a bottle of her very own Mother’s ruin on a gin craft course. The Ginstitute in London runs tasting sessions and teaches you how to blend your own bottle, while Edinburgh Gin offers tours and a gin-making experience. We’ll raise a glass to that!
When your Mother’s Day outing is complete, we’ll bring you back home in style. Book a comfy bunk on board our sleeper service – with free WiFi and complementary breakfast – and treat mum to one last little bit of luxury.
